Date from Hell

The Washington Post has a weekly feature where it picks up the dinner tab for a couple to have a dinner date and then they interview them about their experiences.

Well, this one was the date from Hell. The woman went to the bathroom and never returned. How rude is that?

And I thought it was bad when women used to turn me down for a second date. At least they didn't leave before it was over. LOL.

I also have a tennis buddy who is a widower and says he's had dates with like 60 women he found online and hasn't had a connection with one yet.  Don't know if he is too fussy or they are.

Anyway, does anyone want to share bad or good dating stories?

Here's the link:

  1. Yeah. Horrifyingly rude. Despite it being a glaringly bad match, have some class and politely say 'I don't think this is something either of us are interested in pursuing. We are both obviously uncomfortable. It was nice to meet you.' Pretending to go to the washroom and then skipping out is childish and hateful.

No dating stories for me. My ex was a whole year of stupid that I won't delve into and I was 19 when I started dating my now Husband... So not a lot of time to date. LOL

  2. Holy Cow!!!

There have been a few tough ones, but I never walked on them. This woman I went out with one time was so rude to the wait staff at this one restaurant that I never wanted to see her again. I left an extra-large tip, but I don't think it was enough.

  3. Oh my goodness!! That was just terrible! I cannot imagine doing that to ANYONE!!! Ugghh...

Me and dating...well actually I really didn't date all that much...I had a ton of "guy friends" just not many that I wanted to go on dates with. I went on a couple of dates and some better than others. One time I went on a date and he took me to watch him play in one of his basketball games and I had to sit with his mama. Needless to say, I wasn't really impressed with the date itself (no dinner just watching him play a sport) or him, but I did enjoy visiting with his mom! HA! Afterwards, he drove me home and tried to kiss me but I just POLITELY said "I am so sorry and don't take this the wrong way, I just don't kiss on the first date." Of course he respected that and just hugged me. He called me the next day and I just told him that I thought he was a great person, just not the kind of guy for me but would still love to be friends:)

  4. I'm a regular WaPo reader and I find Date Lab one of those amusing features to read. I have yet to read a date as horrifying as this one. I wish I had been a fly on that wall!

  5. Ouch!, Surely if this chap had done something so terrible that had insulted her sensibilities she could have openly walked out by telling him she was doing so. The humiliation she exposed this man to, on the face of it, seems unfair (and non-consensual ;)).

oh dear dating stories..I have none, I don;t think I ever dated very much :(

  6. I've had my share of bad dates but I never walked out on anyone. That seems extreme~!

  7. DBG (Dirty Blog's Girl) definitely has a story like this to share. I'll show her this post when she gets off work and she'll probably want to tell you about it.

  8. Yep! It sure happened to me! First date with a guy and he asks while we were waiting on our food if he was gonna get laid. Probably the worst question to ask. Of course, SINCE he asked of course I said no and laughed. It wasn't long after that he took a trip to the bathroom and never showed back up. I had to pay for both meals, but did eat a little more before I got up and left.

Never heard from him again, but pretty glad I didn't. :D

  9. Maybe the white cardigan was a dealbreaker?
