Super Sunday

I saw some interesting replies to a survey from a dating service called It's Just Lunch about the Super Bowl.

It said that 74 per cent of men and 82 per cent of women would root against their date's team at a Super Bowl party.

And 67 per cent of single women and 70 per cent of single men would rather have lunch with Peyton Manning than Drew Brees.

And only 37 per cent of women and 46 per cent of men would invite a date to the game if they had tickets. They'd prefer to go with a best friend.

And 70 per cent of men and 68 per cent of women would accept a date to the game with someone they weren't crazy about.

And 17 women would ask their date to be quiet so they could focus on the game but only 9 per cent of the men would do the same.

I'm curious the reaction to these answers. And do you normally watch football and if not, will you watch the Super Bowl just because it's an event or ignore it? And will you attend or throw a Super Bowl party?

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Super Sunday.

  2. Super Bowl is a major holiday at our house and always has been since we married. We eat the same foods every yr (home made Philly cheese steaks and fries with home made cheese sauce, and banana splits). Don't even ask. We celebrate fat! I have no idea who is playing, nor will I watch until half time. But the food and the commercials are always something to look forward to!

  3. Let's see -- last superbowl I watched -- Whitney Houston sang the national anthem -- so that would have been what -- 1991?

I've been to blockbuster -- I'm ready to hang out at my house -- football (and hockey) free.

  4. Oh I hate football... but I love Superbowl parties! Go figure... well I suppose any excuse to have a party where there is lots of pizza, hot wings and beer is good for me. LOL

I don't really get into the game, though. It's just a fun day.

  6. I don't like football, but I'll probably curl up next to Daddy and watch at least some of it, because he likes to have me there beside him. The commercials can be pretty entertaining anyway.

  7. i haven't watched a SuperBowl since the 90's when the Cowboys were there. Neither Jake nor i care about football, so we don't watch it. i really love that He doesn't like football, or basketball, or baseball....any of it. Yay for me! The only sport He likes is UFC, which i also like, so that works out great.

  8. I did watch the game and went to bed early because my wife wouldn'tshut the hell up! I watched from the peace of my bed, texting my Sir every time the Saints had a great play...it was nice....
I don't mind chatting, most times am more than willing to but let's turn off the tv...but NOT during the Superbowl.

  9. I'm with Spirited on this one. I don't enjoy watching football, but I love the parties! I think my serving nature comes out too because I love being in the kitchen making sure everyone has enough food and drinks and keeping the chips and dip filled up. It makes me smile to see and hear all the guys getting worked up over the game and knowing that they don't have to worry about anything else because I've got it all taken care of.

  10. Well it's normally a family tradition in my family, we all get together and watch it and shout and just have fun with one another. Unless it's a team that I really enjoy seeing win then I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's the getting together that I enjoy the most. Hope you had a great Super Bowl Sunday!

  11. Thanks for all the comments. It was interesting to hear from those who do enjoy the Super Bowl, who just enjoy the parties or who don't care to watch. I appreciate you chiming in.
