Happy Mother's Day

Hope you've having a great Mother's Day weekend. We're doing something different and are having a family reunion this weekend. Spending time with the kids and the grandkids at DisneyWorld. It's hot and the lines are lone but the grandkids love it. The whole experience is great for them. Even the water slide at the hotel pool is a treat for them.

I saw a thing at a store recently that said if we knew grandkids were this much fun, we would have had them first. With the grandkids, we can be the goodguys and have fun with them and let their parents do the heavy lifting. Anyway, hope whatever you're doing this weekend, you're having a good time. Always good to have a time to thank mothers for all they do.

If you have a chance, share your Mother's Day experiences.

  3. My mom was a wonderful grandmother to my kids!! But she didn't become a grandmother until she was 65 and she was 75 when Mollie was born. I hope I get to try the grandparent thing a little earlier.

As for Disney - I love, love, love it!! But never between April and August! October, early December and January and February are the very best times. Shoot for one of them next time.

    Hugs,

  4. Gosh, you scared me there! I suddenly though I had forgotten it was Mother's Day, luckily you are in America and we have already had it here in England. Phew! Hope you have a good weekend.

  5. Haha My mom says that about grandkids, but I know she loves her kids just as much. I've come back with "You wouldn't eat just the icing and ignore the cake. Well you might, but then you'd miss out on the essence of the cake" Anyway, have a blast at Disney World!!

  6. Hey FD. Hope you're having a good weekend with the family.

I got a scary lurch in my stomach when I read the title of your blog (oh NO - forgot Mother's Day, I'm a bad daughter, I'm in trouble! etc), but then I realised it's not Mother's Day in the UK, just the US.

    Phew!

  9. Sounds like a fun weekend. I love my grandson and look forward to his phonecalls. I was showered in flowers, a breakfast my husband and son attempted,(I was starving by lunch)and a beautiful afternoon at Clearwater beach.

  10. Hiya FD:)
We were at Disney this past February. We had a great time and hope you did too.
For Mother's Day my three kids made me scrambled eggs (complete with shells) toast and an apple. The cooked it all by themselves. My daughter played for cancer patients at a local hospital and our youngest handed out flowers to the moms leaving the hospital. We had a great day!

  11. PV: Yes, grandkids are amazing.

Ronnie: Yes, we enjoyed the time with the grandkids.

PK: Hope you do the grandmother thing earlier than your mother did. And yes, Disney is best avoided between April and August or even September. It was hot but fun over the weekend.

ObsidianCub and J: I should have said Mother's Day in the US. Until I started this blog, I didn't realize different countries had different dates for Mother's Day.

Ariia: Yes, we had a blast and I'm sure your mom loves her kids just as much. But she probably has more fun with the grandkids because she can leave the discipline to the parents.

Soutehrngirl: Breakfast in bed is a nice Mother's Day Tradition.

Sid: yes, you get to spoil the grandkids.

Katia: Sounds like you had a great Mother's Day even if breakfast wasn't too filling.

Salvia: Sounds like you're doing a great job of raising kids who fixed breakfast by themselves and were at the local hospital.

Thanks to all for commenting. Btw, The NYTimes reports Mother's Day is a $14 billion industry, including $2.5 billion in jewelry and $1.9 billion in flowers.
