Check out this story. An MIT grad engaged to an attractive Harvard grad and he has a thing with a teen.

Although I do not consider a 15 year old or a 16 year old a "child" they are not adults therefore no grown up should engage with a minor. I know it Canada the law is actually not so black and white as legal consenting age is 16 in most provinces. There are some hidden rules about that; however, it is not illegal for someone over the age of 19 to have sex with someone under the age of 19. Personally I do not agree with our legal age, in fact it infuriates me. Still me not liking the law and me following the law are two different things. Legal or not I would not engage with a minor, ever. The idea leaves me with a rather sick sensation and I find it vile when I learn of others who do participate in such an act.

Besides the fact that he was with a minor, he cheated on his partner and again, not illegal but immoral, to me. I have come to learn that cheating seems prevalent in society and I am uncertain as to why. I am appalled by such websites as Ashley Madison and the like because they promote hurting people and that is a behaviour I simply do not understand nor accept.

When did the world become so accepting of such unfavourable actions?

  2. While I agree that the girl in no child, she is not old enough to be with a 30 y/0. He was taking advantage of her youth. Those laws are in place for a reason and I am glad that they are there. This idiot needs to go to jail for his actions.

  3. An MIT graduate who is dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to common sense. Once again, the saying he was thinking with the wrong head comes to mind.

  4. The guy made a really bad decision to start the affair with the young girl and to cheat. No doubt about it, he is in the wrong and should suffer the consequences. However...

Everytime I read about something like this I always wonder...why aren't we giving our youth 'tools' so they don't fall into situations of this nature. Have you taken a good look at some of our 15-16 year old female teens. Many are extremely well developed and behave much older than their physical years. The entertainment industry has bombarded them with sexual innuendos and provacative thoughts. Many think this is normal behavior for their age. The internet and sexting makes it easy for them to experiment. The number of teens having sex at an earlier age is NOT declining. Our young people need to understand they are also accountable for their behavior.

    1. I know female teens are well developed but I don't think they are emotional mature and while they need to be accountable for their behavior, I think they are vulnerable to being victimized by older guys.

By the way, according to one survey, teen sex declined from 1995 to 2002 but didn't change significantly from 2002 to 2006-2008. And 70 per cent of females and 56 per cent of males said their first sexual experience was with a steady partner.
