Meeting a Vanilla Blogger

One of the best things about blogging is getting to know new people and in some cases actually meeting them.

Recently, for the third time, I met a blogger I got to know while reading their blogs and then starting to email. It's always interesting to meet someone you've only talked to in emails. And this time was different because she is a vanilla type who blogged about her breakup. She hasn't updated the blog in quite a while but here's the link:

Anyway, as with PK and with Kitty, who has since stopped blogging, it was a fun meeting and it was as if we had already known each other as we talked about our lives. It is so interesting to put a voice to the person you've emailed with. For those of you who've also met in person people you've got to know online, I think you can understand. They've all been fun experiences.

Anyway, if any of you wind up meeting a fellow blogger, I hope it goes as well as it has for me.

And, of course, I also met my good girl recently but we knew each other quite well before we met in person.

  1. It's definitely a lot of fun meeting people you've only known online. I've met several online friends (no one from the blogging community yet, though). It's great getting to know people you would otherwise never have a chance to know. In fact many of the good friends I have now are people I first met online. Some of them became real life friends and one even became a roommate for a while. The Internet really opens a lot of doors too for business! :-D

  2. I've been able to meet 6 people who I originally 'met' through blogs or email and I have had wonderful experiences. I certainly loved meeting you! There are a few more I would really like to meet someday - and maybe I just will!

    Hugs,

  3. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting anyone from blogland yet, but would absolutely love the opportunity. I imagine it would be a great experience.

  4. Wow, i havent met anyone from blogging but then i dont really come accross that many that are in the uk!

Im wary of commenting on vanilla blogs because if they clicked back on my link im not sure how my blog would be perceived.

    btw

are you still in contact with kitty? i enjoyed her blog and then when i clicked on it one day (a while ago now) it was closed.

    1. Tori: I've actually come across a few UK bloggers and I hope you get to meet some of them. Compared to the US, the UK is a smaller country and I would think it'd be easier to meet them.

I don't hesitate to click on vanilla blogs. I figure if they don't want to interact with somebody in the lifestyle, that is OK. And in Flying Solo's case, even though she is not in the lifestyle, she accepts the fact I am and we got along great.

Unfortunately, Kitty has stopped blogging and even emailing. She just got too busy. I hope she does return one day. She will certainly be welcome.

  5. I was grateful you found the time to meet. It was like old friends since we had been emailing so often and I really enjoyed our time together. The time sure flew as we caught up and it's nice having a face to put to the name when I see you in my inbox!

Hopefully we will get to do it again ! Thanks again for making the time while you were in town. I am so happy to follow your blog and your adventures and seeing how well things are going.

    Stay well FD !

  7. For me, meeting fellow bloggers has been a positive experience, although I have been VERY cautious! JJ and I have met others together and it reinforced that we are "normal" people in a crazy world!

I hate that Kitty isn't around at the moment, but I understand how busy life can get. I hope she can find the time to at least check back in.
