Oprah Goes Kinky

While watching the Lance Armstrong interview on Oprah's OWN network last night, they had a promo for a show on kink being shown next Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST, 9 CST. It references 50 Shades and says it is look at the BDSM world.

I know some of you spankos aren't into BDSM but I thought you might find it interesting although  shows like this often don't get into the bond that the D/s likestyle can help create between a Dom and a sub. I think the lifestyle makes for more intense relationships than vanilla couples have. That to me is the essence of the lifestyle. But the show is an example that the success of 50 Shades seem to be bringing the lifestyle to a more mainstream audience.

Here's a link to a five-minute preview of the show:

  1. This may be worth watching. I usually avoid Oprah. I hope they go deeper than the surface. There is much more to it than pain and a little rope.

    1. Let's hope they go below the surface and show a positive image but these kinds of shows often don't do that.

  2. I want to hope that Oprah will have a balanced show but .. I guess wait and see is the best choice for now.
I just don't think the media has much of a chance of understanding or getting it right about BDSM or D/s.
I'd love to be wrong.. maybe Shades made a difference?
    We'll find out soon enough~

    1. I hope you are wrong but fear that you are right and they don't get it right.

  3. I wouldnt mind watching this but im not sure that its available in the UK i will have to check that out.

It would be interesting to see what aspects they explore, usually programs like this centre on the kink aspects rather than the relationship between a dominant and a submissive.

    1. Not sure if it will be available in the UK. And, yes, these shows often don't feature the relationships.

  4. Oh wow, very interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about 50 Shades opening up this new interest into TTWD .. I think it has it's ups and downs. As a matter of fact, might make for an interesting post. If I do end up writing about it, i'll link to your blog letting people know it's where I found the vid, if ya don't mind?
