Here's a feel good story about a grandmother who stood up for her gay grandson in a church.
The boy is lucky to have her as his grandmother. Here's the link:

I think it was disgraceful that the pastor took a private letter and read it before the whole congregation.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you posted this, FD!

I agree with you, which is why I posted it. And I want to welcome your new blog to our community.

Wow, that's so great what she did. But hasn't there been enough kids committing suicide over this kind of stuff to prove that the problem is not with the gay community, but with those who make them feel wrong for being true to their nature?
ReplyDeleteIt's really upsetting that people will do this to a kid and feel okay about it...
*hugs*

Yes, it is very upsetting to see people act that way.

Hi FD, Wow! How wonderful of the Grandmother. I agree with the others, I think it was very wrong of the pastor to read the letter out, let alone the parents for writing it!
ReplyDeleteAs Turiya said, haven't we learnt through other teen suicides?
Hugs,
Roz
Yes, teen gay suicides are tragic. But the good thing is that society, especially younger people, is becoming more undestanding.

What a wonderful Grandma, good for her. Yes, agree, should shouldn't have read the letter out.

Who knows what that preacher was thinking. He sure wasn't thinking about helping that teenager. That grandmother did something very hard. That boy has a very strong person in his corner. I hope he can move out of his parents home and live with her while he finishes high school.
ReplyDeleteThat preacher needs a lesson in compassion and understanding and sensitivity training.
