Marriage Ref

Did you watch the new show "Marriage Ref'' Sunday night. I missed it but the premise I read about sounded interesting. Jerry Seinfeld was having a fight with his wife over something silly in front of a guest who was about to excuse himself. Jerry said don't leave, we need a ref. I don't want to talk about this for three hours. The wife said that's a TV show. Seinford can't remember what they were arguing about.

So they sold the idea to NBC and the whole premise is that married couples argue about silly things -- like whether the dining room table is just for Thanskgiving or the husband can use it for a poker game. Not the big stuff like, say, sex and money. And then they have a marriage ref to arbitrate. The concept has already been sold to foreign companies so our friends in Australia will be able to see their version.

If you watched the show, I'd be curious about your reaction. And don't we all have silly fights fights with our spouses and think when it's over, why did we fight about that? Do you agree?

Your thoughts?

P.S. Speaking of TV shows, the final show of the Bachelor is tonight and the guy picks from he final two. There are web sites that have revealed the winner but I can't remember which one it is. I've written about this show before but it continues to fascinate me that it gets good ratings because the couples never stay together. I just watch the last 15 minutes of the last couple of shows in each series to see the loser go home crying like she (or he on the Bachelorette) has just lost the love of her/her life when they barely know each other.

Also, if you have HBO, Katie Morgan will have a 30-minute show on the History of Porn Thursday at 11 p.m. She's a porn actress but she's actually funny (or has good writers) and the show is kind of fascinating pointing out that as soon as the movie camera was invented, porn was a popular topic. Also, Morgan is nude during the show and the strange thing is that after a while, it's no big deal because she's not doing anything erotic but is standing there talking. She shows nudity can become routine. Really!!!

  1. "The Marriage Ref" was a pretty funy show. Apparently couples write in wanting them to help resolve an issue. they show clips and interviews of the couple and then the celebrity panel discusses it. It's more of a comedy show than anything. Although it is about real couples and some of the situations they have problems with. It is worth watching again I think. I got a good laugh out of it.

  2. O and I watched it...Let's have the nuttiest people write in...put their problem on TV, let them have 15 minutes of fame (of course they're hoping to have longer fame) and then make fun of them. In the end send them on trip so there's no hard feelings.

I don't think I'll be watching it again.

  4. I didn’t watch "Marriage Ref'' last night but taped it. The concept is hilarious, and I love that people want to air their stupid/dirty laundry like this. I also think it’s hilarious that Alec Baldwin was one of the refs last night—I mean, at least get people who have had successful marriages to be the refs, rather than starts with mega-watt divorces!

I haven’t watched any of the Bachelor this season, but think people watch that show because it’s train-wreck television and you can’t turn away. And the match-ups rarely succeed long-term, which makes it funnier.

And Katie Morgan is one of the hottest porn stars around these days. I love watching her; she’s so petite and hot!

  5. I think you should watch less TV and write more in your Training Lisa series. :P

  6. Ron: Yes, Alex Baldwin doesn't seem like the right person to be giving marriage advice.

TrueBlue: You're right. I need to click off the TV and start writing.

  8. I guess it isnt over here yet. But the bit about nudity interested me. i have been a naturist my entire life and i have never been to less erotic places. There are all these naked bodies and no one bats an eyelid and i have never seen a guy with a hard on. At night the clothes come out and so does the sexuality. very weird

PS naturism and the kind of spankings i get just dont mix so i have to have a permanent period so i can wear my pants. rather spoils things lol
