I often wonder how women who were once in porn movies feel when they grow older. Do they regret it? Do they tell people they once did it? Are they proud of it?
Well, there was a recent case in St. Louis where a school teacher quit her job after a student quizzed her about her porn past. This was the second time. It happened to her five years ago in Kentucky when she was suspended. At that time she made several media appearances including on Dr. Phil and then changed her name to resume her career in a new state.
Since appearing in porn films isn't illegal, I feel she should be allowed to teach, but I guess teaching tends to be a sensitive job.
And the thing about porn stars -- do you notice they are always called stars -- is that they are like athletes. They have short careers.
And fair or not, I guess some of them have trouble living down their past even if it legal.
Or as Faulkner once wrote, the past isn't dead. It's not even past.

Hence the reason I don't even like pictures of myself being taken in the nude... even just between us and especially not on a website. Unfortunately in our society things like that can destroy careers and reputations.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure you should lose your livelihood over something you did in the past. I am sure she isn't using the videos as part of a lesson plan.. and we all know.. there is something we did when we were young we wouldn't want coming back to haunt us...
ReplyDeleteHeck... even now !
Great quote too FD
I don't think she should lose her job, what she did wasn't illegal. But honestly, she doesn't sound very bright, if she appeared on Dr.Phil and then changed her name and moved states in an attempt to disappear. Who goes on Dr.Phil cause they are trying to be invisible?
ReplyDeleteI noticed that all in porn are 'porn stars' too. I guess there are no 'character actor's' in porn. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI don't think she should lose her job either but as Sin pointed out if you go on national TV to discuss your past what did she expect?
Hugs,
PK
I wish she hadn't had to lose her job as well... but why go on Dr. Phil to talk about what is over?
ReplyDeleteSeems odd.
I teach and I know I'd be in big trouble if people knew of my sub side.. much less any naked pics. OH MY!
Sex is always going to be private and personal, so being a porn star is always going to risk defining your professional future - if you've watched somebody give a blow job while being taken up the arse, it's probably hard to focus on their new role as your highs school teacher.
