Not being able to pay the bills is why Dragon joined the military. There is a way to get out of the rut but it takes work.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Dragon had the military option. Not all people in difficult circumstances have that option.

When I met Dragon, I was in school on a Pell grant to improve my life. There is more than one way out of poverty. I worked two jobs and went to school. Didn't get to spend much time with my daughter but we had to eat.
DeleteHi , I hope you don't mind me popping in. That poor girl, she is trying her best. We are not poor but we are not rich. I have always brought my kids up to be kind and help where they can. They are now both generous men who work hard and would never judge like that. Why can't people just help each other a little bit more and give some of these kids a chance. I admire the lady who helps the homeless so much

And, yes, it would be nice if we would help each other more and give these kids a chance. And the woman working with the homeless is to be admired.

Those of us who grew up in a middle class home and had all the stepping stones to make a good life for ourselves need to count our blessings. That article brings to light how some kids don't get so lucky and have to work twice as hard to have a decent life and break out of the cycle of poverty. This was an eye opening reminder of how blessed I am.
