Here's an article to give you one less thing to worry about if you have teens. It says that teen sexting is much less common than people think it is. It also says teens are programmed to do dumb things -- no surprise there -- because their brains aren't fully mature.
Although there do seem to be plenty of adult women -- or at least over the legal age of 18 -- who are happy to post naked photos on some websites.
Also, a funny comment in the story on the walls about cavemen drawing nude pictures on the walls. In Arizona, there is a civilization that disappeared and they're not sure what happened to them. But you can take a tour of where they lived and on the wall is a stick figure of a well endowed guy.
Anyway, here's the link. Sounds like a few isolated incidents gave the impression that sexting is rampant among teens.

I work in a local high school that my own teen daughter attends... seems like we have our hands full there of sexting, not only that, but teens making videos on phones.
ReplyDeleteOne incident in particular was a teen found a phone in a classroom, looked through it and found a sex video. They then sent it to EVERYONE on the contact list.
Needless to say - mom, dad and even great aunty were on that list.
It was a huge mess. The phone was left on the desk of a police officer who works inside our building. It was left open to the video.
This has created quite a stir in the school. Parents called, student called in and now an investigation due to the fact that the boy in the video was 18 at the time.
I have to say, I was very clueless when I started working there. I feared for our daughter but I'm glad to know what all goes on rather than live in the dark.
