Lesbian Denied Communion at Mother's Funeral

I thought we were becoming more accepting of gays in this country. This is a depressing step backwards.

  1. The Catholic Church should not be casting stones. Their handling of the sexual abuse crisis was, and continues to be appalling. More recently, their stance on the health care issue is incredibly hypocritical. When was the last time anyone saw a priest give a sermon decrying birth control? Instead, they issue statements and get involved in the political race.

Why are they so quiet amidst all of these tax cuts the Republicans want to bestow on the rich, while the poor in this country continue to suffer?

Memo to the clergy: Read the Gospel of St Mark, Chapter 10: "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

    Just my humble opinion :)

  2. While I do understand his reluctance to allow her to take communion, he handled the situation poorly. His lack of kindness and humility is sad.

  3. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" John 8:7

Unfortunatley its priests such as this one that make a mockery out of religon and make it hyprocritical, it gives the Catholic church a bad image and taints it....people tend to remember the negative rather than the goodness.

  4. Gee, I wonder if the pedophile priests are denied communion. It is one of the things that really turn me off the catholic religion. I was one once upon a time and this is one of the many reasons I am not anymore.

Tori: Yes, it does give the church a bad image.

  7. Yeah I agree. It's pretty sad in this day and age...and yet I'm not surprised. As much as the general public is getting more open....the major religious affiliations are really not. =/
