After I did my last post on the history of bras, my good girl and I were talking about how most women don't tend to be happy with their breasts. They either think they are too small or too big or something.
What made me think of Nora Ephron's famous Esquire magazine article on Breasts. She died recently and is best known for movies like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and Heartburn. But she was also a terrific writer and the memory pieces people wrote on her passing often mentioned her essay on having small breasts. It is still remembered all these years later and despite all her success. So I thought I'd share it with you. I hope you read it. Clever writing and a great example of how even successful women can get hung up on the size of their breasts. Here's the link:

From the male perspective, I am fine with breasts of any size and shape. I just don't like implants.
But are there readers out there who want to say they are happy with theirs?

I'm very happy with mine! They're nothing special or extraordinary - they fit in my husband's hand perfectly - so they are just right, not too big and not too small! (and I agree, implants are not for me!) Long, live the REAL Ta-Ta's!

ReplyDeleteI can not stand mine. I used to have small perky youthful breasts and I adored them. Over the years they have changed and are not the beautiful bumps I once appreciated. I can handle wrinkles and laugh lines and even the act of getting shorter due to age but gravity just ticks me off. I will be having surgery in the next year to alter their appearance and that means implants and I am so excited for it. I want those days of not wearing a bra and having my breasts stay exactly where they belong. :)
With that said, for all those women who embrace their breasts just the way they are I say kudos to you. Congratulations on loving yourself and appreciating what you were given. I commend you and am even a little envious.

I LOVE mine! They are small but I don't care. I find it easier to do things because they are small. Golfing for one, it's a much easier swing when the top of my arms isn't stopped by a bunch of breast tissue mid swing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, jogging, rollerblading and jumping on the trampoline with not too much in the way.
I do get a little sad sometimes because I do not have cleavage (Well, maybe if I squished them together I can make some). Just once I'd like a nice scoop neck t-shirt with a sexy little cleavage line... but I get over it.

I actually like mine, though I may go for a lift at some point. I have 36DD's, and they aren't easy with all the exercise I like to do, but they are key in my hourglass shape. They just work. I've also never had any complaints, lol.

I love my breasts, but it wasn't always so. When I used to breastfeed and milk would leak out all over and I had to wear a bra to bed with a cloth diaper underneath the bra or I'd be soaked (even with nursing several times during the night). Thankfully, my supply eventually adjusted, but I was not happy during that time and it happened that way with every single baby, but I would just tell myself that it would get better eventually, and of course, it always did:)!
ReplyDeleteBut, I never felt very sexual during that time, but it was amazingly erotic if Daddy would suck on my breasts and my sweet milk would be drunk by him. He said my milk tasted like vanilla ice cream that was warm.
Anyway, I think I got off topic, but, oh, well, sorry:)!

Yep, I like mine, and they aren't all that big, barely a B. As a teen and younger woman I didn't, years of Musicman saying they were perfect has long since changed the way I perceive them.

I've always been happy with my breasts. My legs are another story; I inherited them from my grandmother. Lol. I can only dream of having legs like Kitty's (Sweet Surrender.)

I LOVED my breasts during the 4.5 years I breast fed. I was an size A before breastfeeding, so it was such a pleasure to have enough to really cup in my hands. I didn't leak much after the first couple months. I have to say, I'm still adjusting to the post-breastfeeding AA cup...

My breasts are fine, not perky anymore but they're not down on my tummy and I don't have ruts in my shoulders. What more can you ask at my age?
