Two thousand calories

I had a great morning playing tennis for almost four hours. Two sets of mixed doubles and two more of singles with two different guys. One guy has a counter and he burned over 1800 calories after three sets so I figured I went over 2000 playing the second set. Now I eat some high calorie food like cherry pie.

After the third set, one guy said his wife was a rep for a drug company selling what he called old men's drugs including cialis and a drug with testosterone. I digress but it's nice to be retired while your wife still works. Anyway, he said cialis made older guys who don't need it feel like 25 although I said I had read it doesn't make a difference for guys without E.D. He said he hadn't used it himself to prove this theory. Then the other guy, who's 73, said his girlfriend was coming over tonight and he was popping cialis, which he called "hamburger helper.''

And then the first guy said, "Are you guys going to talk about erections or play more tennis?' Cracked me up.

This reminded me that on a blog this week, a blogger used the word "impotence'' and I said that so old-fashioned because once the drug companies figured out they would make money on it, they repackaged it as "E.D.'' and took the taboo out of it with millions of dollars worth of ads. I guess our conversation proved my point. Can't imagine guys having that conversation years ago. The drug companies turned it into a blood flow problem imstead of something to do with your manhood. Times change.

  1. Was that me who used the word impotent? Because I remember thinking of it at the time, but the whole E.D. thing annoys me, and I don't want to say S.T.I. either. I hadn't even realized that they had changed S.T.D.'s to S.T.I.'s until I saw it on a condom package earlier this year. I wanted to say "impotence" and "VD" in a comment I posted recently, not sure if it was the one you're talking about.

  2. t1klish: It wasn't your blog, but why does the whole ED think annoy you? I didn't realize they had changed STDs to STIs.

  3. All of the renaming annoys me, and a lot of it is medical related. It's like it started at the same time that they started pushing prescription drugs in TV commercials back in the 90's. They never did it before that. I think it all started with Allegra, if that was the one where some woman is frolicking through a field, and they told you to call and inquire about it, without even telling you what the drug was for. It was creepy.

Ever since, it's like they've convinced every person on earth that they need to be on drugs for some abbreviated medical condition or another. I do online surveys, and one of the reasons I have trouble qualifying is because I have no medical conditions. Between being healthy, and white, and non-Hispanic, I'm disqualified for almost all surveys.

  4. Good point that they've convinced people they should be on a drug. I sometimes thing drug ads on TV should be banned like smoking ads.

  5. Hi FD, sounds like a fun morning! Just to inform you though it does work on young guys without erectile issues. Actually i want to make a disclaimer on that statement; i'm assuming that cialis is like viagra. If it is i stand by my statement. My ex tried it once (we were in our twenties then), let's say melinda was a sore bunny afterwards! We had sex for about 5hrs straight, he could have kept going though i definitely couldn't! Not fair that i wasn't "pumped" too *Lol*. Anyways, probably TMI but just wanted to let you know, maybe some of your friends would like to know :-P

    1. Thanks for the information. If the word gets out, the drug companies will make even more money.
