Father's Day

I love Father's Day. Not because I want anything but because I am not expected to do anything.

So all you spankos out there, what do you get the man in your life on Father's Day?

Well, I have just the thing for you. Do you know you can buy ping pong or table tennis paddles with the logo on your favorite NFL team on them?

That's the kind of paddle you can leave around the house and say it is just to recognize his favorite team. The non spankos in your life would never guess what it is really used for.

Now how can you beat that? (pun intended)!!!!!!

It is about a 15-year-old girl dying of cancer. Only three posts but such a positive attitude in the face of tragedy.

She's not asking for money or pity but just that you sign up on the bone marrow list and that you click to a link to say hello to other sick kids.

Circumcision

For a long time, the majority of male babies in the U.S. have been routinely been circumcised. Of course, Jewish men have always been circumcised, but at some point it became more common in the general population.

Now there is a controversy about the procedure, some saying that there is no medical for it while some studies have shown it reduces the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases and the possibility of passing on HIV to their women partners. Now parents have to decide whether they want a procedure that used to be routine.

Meanwhile, the city of San Francisco is going to put a measure on the ballot banning the practice.

So I thought I'd ask the readers if they have male children whether or not they had them circumcised or whether they've given any thought of what they will do if they have male children.

And do our female readers think there is any difference in having sex with a circumcised male or an uncircumcised male and whether you have a preference.

Too thin?

If you go on the Internet, you will see pictures of LeAnn Rimes in a bikini on her honeymoon defending herself from fans who tell her she is too thin.

One said on Twitter, "Whoa, you're scary skinny! Sorry don't mean to offend but that's a lot of bones showing through skin.''

She replied those were abs not bones and she tweeted she ate Boston Dog's sliders and french fries at the airport. I guess she was trying to make the point she eats junk food.

But if you look at the pictures, she looks like she needs a few good meals.

If you are a regular reader, you know I think these skinny celebs and models can send a terrible message to young girls growing up who think they need be so thin that it is unhealthy. One of my favorite sayings is that Real Women have Curves. I love curvy women and think women should embrace their curves. If you look at the Reuben's paintings, you know that thin wasn't always in.

Anyway, if you google the Rimes' pictures, I will be curious to hear your thoughts.

Genderless Baby

You may have heard about the Canadian couple who sent out birth announcements on the arrival of their baby but said they weren't revealing the sex of the baby at the present time. This resulted in the four-month old baby to be called the genderless baby and provoked a storm of controversy.

Well, now the mother of the baby has written a letter to a newspaper explaining their decision. They have two other kids and one of them is a five year old who likes "bright colors (especially pink) and lots of fabric (especially dresses). And he wanted to grow his hair.'' Meanwhile, the boy got pressure from his peer group to "act more like a boy.'' But she said the boy remained committed to his own style.

So when she became pregnant, the boy began asking questions about how the baby would be treated if the baby would like to wear pink one day (assuming the baby is a boy).

So they decided not to reveal the gender until the baby decides what gender the baby is. "Some day soon, Storm will have something to say about it, so in the meantime, I'm just listening carefully,'' the mother said.

There's also the issue of men who like to wear women's clothes but don't consider themselves women. Sex can be so very complicated.

I still don't agree with the decision, but at least I can understand the reasoning now. It is true that kids who have the genitals of one sex but in their minds are the opposite sex can have a difficult time growing up. But I don't think this is the way to deal with it, especially if the baby turns out to be the same gender as the genitals and it turns out to be no issue at all.

Bikinis

I saw a note recently that this is the 65th anniversary year of the bikini. I guess before that, women only wore one piece suits at the beach. How times change.

The founder of the two piece suit called it a bikini because America conducted its first nuclear tests near the Bikini Islands and he thought the new suit "would cause a similar explosion.''

I find it interesting that while walking the beach, it seems most women under 40 wear bikinis and many of those over 40 prefer the one piece suit.

I've also seen two very pregnant women wearing bikinis recently -- or at least bikinis tops, one of them wore short shorts. I thought it was nice they were comfortable enough to wear them when they appeared to be due in a few weeks.

So I thought it was be interesting to ask our female readers if they like to wear bikinis.

Staying

I'm fortunate to get so many interesting comments on my posts and I wanted to highlight one I got on my last "Stay or Leave'' post about how politicians' wives react when they get caught cheating and especially when they have a baby with the other woman.

Doll wrote the following, "My mother adopted my father's love child. They are going to celebrate their golden wedding in July and my sister is the joy of both their lives. There were a couple of hard years for my mother as she looked judgmental people in the eye and then it became a non issue. She felt she had far too much investment in the relationship to walk away from it. Certainly that is worth thinking about as she has not spent the latter years of her life as a single woman on reduced income but as part of a couple in very comfortable circumstances.''

Her decision reminds me of the late Ann Landers, who used to write, "Are you better off with him or without him?''

Doll's mother decided she was better off with him. Doll didn't write how her life was impacted by all this, but her mother kept the family together. Too bad Doll doesn't seem to have a blog.

Don't know how many women could have done the same thing,but it worked out for her.
